If there's one thing that holds people back from starting their own production company or production, it's not knowing what to do first. So often we hear of talented people with exceptional ideas who fail because they simply do not have the experience or business skills to properly build their organization or take the right action steps in the correct order. Without having the necessary tools and steps in place, even the most creative people and ideas can fizzle before they get off the ground.
Over the past ten years, I have learned a great deal about what works and what doesn’t. My job is to help you create a roadmap you can follow, with constant steering along the way. I can also help you build the essential infrastructure and business systems that will give you the support and chassis you need, so your company can let the creative juices flow unimpeded by administrative or other “organization” issues. With successful former, and current production companies, a non-profit corporation, and multiple small business ventures, my actual consulting practice began in 2014. Things got started after I received numerous requests for my services – all from unsolicited referrals through personal connections in the industry. This was a great compliment of course, and I thoroughly enjoy the challenge. My diverse experience with start-up companies on both coasts does give me a unique perspective, bringing me a virtual book of knowledge about what to do and perhaps more importantly, what NOT to do. My production experience began in the Superhero/Comic Book web genre, with my first Production Company creating over 400 episodes of on-demand episodic and feature material. This broad collection gave me much of the diverse and extensive bank of industry knowledge and tools required for any production genre. This production company also completed 2 feature films, a short film that won best script at The Beverly Hills Film Festival, a comedy web series, and a collection of many short scenes and fight scenes – all of which may be viewed on my IMDb page. In mid 2015, I sold the company to my former business partner, leading to the establishment of my own, Omni Rising Productions LLC.
Here are my specialty skill sets where I can help you…
About:In 2008 at the age of 22, Kristina Hess began her entrepreneurial career. Partnering with her mother, she created a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit animal rescue organization, Rescue Angels Inc, that has rescued and placed over 2,000 dogs to date. Kristina relocated to LA in 2012 and jumped on board to help create a successful film and web production company, Cross the Line Films LLC and became Co-Owner and COO. During her tenure at Cross the Line, Kristina co-produced a high-demand cosplay web series, "The Superheroines” - an on-demand production with over 400 episodes which generated a powerful flow of revenue that was able to support a variety of other company feature films and series. Over her three-year span, in addition to "The Superheroines”, the company completed 2 feature films, "Overbooked" and "Legend of the Bull”, a short film, "Last Man Standing" that won best script at The Beverly Hills Film Festival, a comedy web series, "Easy Way Out”, and a collection of many short scenes and fight scenes, all of which can be viewed on Kristina's IMDb page: IMDb. In mid 2015, Kristina sold the company to her business partner to establish her own company, Omni Rising Productions LLC, which has already built a star cast, recruited top technical professionals and began production for its exciting new series “Chained". In addition to building this new venture, she also consults with numerous start-up companies in film production and medical products - providing them with the essential tools and experience to kick off operations and integrate business systems to assure their ultimate success. She recently established Hermes Home Ventures LLC to provide valuable real-estate business services and develop a hard-working and trustworthy network of Real Estate Professionals.
Kristina received her BA in Business and Theater from the University of Massachusetts in 2007. Services:Send me an email with your goal (i.e. create a production company, figure out a way to profit from current project, etc.) and I will contact you with my initial thoughts and proposed solutions that I can provide. We will then set up a consultation meeting where we can together map out a course of action and further development plans.
Initial Consult Email Correspondence: FREE
Consultation One-on-One Meeting (either in person or via Skype): $100/hr [typically clients book 2 hours to get the critical information to get started] Day on Set as Production Manager or Overseer: $250/day [8 hour day] *This only includes day of, not preparation for the shoot.* I will be on set overseeing operations. I can teach you the correct way to run your set professionally and proficiently and will help you with everything from Call Time arrivals, paperwork, questions, operations for on-set movement, etc. Co-Production: We can discuss a potential joint production opportunity and rate. (Please DO NOT contact me with regards to producing your script. We are not currently looking for outside projects to fund. This is only for JOINT opportunities where I would potentially come on as a Production Consultant, Director, Operations Producer, etc. and payment would be negotiated after a budget is proposed or in place.) Once we have established your goals and action plans, the rate will vary depending on the amount of time needed for your particular project. Of course, I am very willing to work with you on your budgets as well! |

"My name is Coco Valletté and I am a film maker. After graduating SFSU with a BA in Cinema I worked as a script supervisor in Los Angeles for 8 years on pilots, films and infomercials. For the last 4 years I have produced comic books, pilots, webisodes and feature films. It is my humble opinion that Kristina Hess is an organizational and money making genius. Kristina illuminated a path to greater growth than I ever imagined.
For my company’s initial consult my investor and I spent 2 hours with her and she did not waste a second. I found her to be warm and honest and always on the same page. I knew immediately that she is someone upon whom my company can rely. Her ideas and initiative helped me to push through the roadblocks my company was experiencing. By consulting with Kristina I learned the necessary skills needed to keep a company running like a well-oiled machine. As a film maker I spend a lot of time projecting what my next move is. Every film maker everywhere can tell you that each project is different. Each one requires a different strategy for its own success. This is where Kristina comes in. Having produced over 400 profitable projects of her own, she identified the next step needed to push my project forward. She takes in to account where my budget is, the intended audience and created my best strategy to bring my project to fruition. The biggest lesson I learned was to keep an eye out for making a profit. It is true that film is art, but without a profit, there is no next project. Just like the words “Show” and “Business”, making a film is also about “Work” and “Flow”. I can do the work, that is my pleasure and my privilege. I have trained and studied for years and I have worked in the industry for a near decade. I have the chops. What I lack is the organizational skills for making all of my work “flow”. This is Kristina’s skill set. So after you have read my recommendation, I urge you to email her immediately. Do not hesitate for one more minute. Whatever you spend on her, you will see in returns Han Solo himself couldn’t imagine!" - Coco Valletté-Anthony | CEO, Ultimate Superheroines, LLC |
